The West Valley Youth Orchestra will host a Chamber Music Summer Camp with Quartet Sabaku from June 14 to June 18, 2010. The location is Destert Springs Community Church, 14440 W Indian School Rd., Goodyear AZ 85395. The camp runs from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm each day. The members of the professional string quartet, Quartet Sabaku, will coach the students. There will be a public performance on Friday, June 18 at 7:00 at Pebble Creek's Renaissance Theater, 15745 W Clubhouse Dr, Goodyear, AZ 85338. This concert will showcase the camp ensembles, orchestra, and Quartet Sabaku. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door. Children under 10 are free.

Ages: 10 - 19. Students younger than 10 will need special permission to attend.

Audition Requirements for Chamber Music Camp:
Major and Minor scales: 2 or 3 octaves up to 3 sharps and 3 flats with accurate intonation
Prepared solo: Student's choice, two minutes long (the equivalent of Suzuki Book 3 level, or above)
Sight reading: Short orchestral excerpt.
There will be a short theory assessment at the audition.

Camp Dates: June 14 - 18, 2010
Registration Deadline: May 14, 2010 ($20 discount if registering by May 3)
Audition Date: Saturday May 22, 2010 at Destert Springs Community Church, 14440 W Indian School Rd., Goodyear AZ 85395

Fees: (Best Camp Value in Arizona):
Partial payment due with application - $60
Balance by May 3 is $160/ by May 14 is $180 (Total payment: $220 if postmarked before May 3; $240 if postmarked after May 3)

Late registration may be accepted on a space available basis.
No refunds after May 22, 2010

Students will need to bring a music stand, pencil, metronome/tuner and a sack lunch each day.
